In just 7 months, we have opened 8 escape rooms and 7 scenarios, making Fox in a Box Sherbrooke the largest escape game center in Estrie. But we’re not stopping there. Thanks to La Ruche Québec, we are launching a crowdfunding campaign to build our next and final game:
Pirate Cove.
As you might have guessed, this game takes place during the era of privateers and buccaneers. This 90-minute game, designed for 4 to 8 players, will be the most immersive experience ever offered in the entire Fox in a Box network. Additionally, we have received authorization to collaborate with Calimacil to develop new technologies, new games, and accessories that will make your experience even more immersive. Our goal is to offer a world-class escape room right here in Sherbrooke.
What is crowdfunding?
Crowdfunding allows you, as a consumer, to help a business, project, or individual raise the necessary funds to finance a new endeavor. In our case, the money collected will go toward building this new immersive experience.
In return, the project’s promoter commits to delivering the rewards associated with your contribution. All transactions are securely processed through Laruchequebec.com. There is no risk to you, as the funds will only be deducted from your card once the campaign is successfully completed.
Thanks to an initiative from the Ministry of Tourism and its Horizon d’ici Fund, along with your support, if we reach our goal, we will receive an additional $37,500 grant to bring this project to life.

A little more about Pirate Cove
It was at my first franchisee meeting in Belgrade that I discovered the game Pirate by Crowbar Escape. Fox in a Box had acquired the rights to the game and was presenting it as the next escape room to be offered across the network. I must admit, I had no expectations—I couldn’t see how I was going to be impressed, especially knowing the high quality of escape rooms already available in Quebec.
Oh wow, was I wrong! From the very first moments—the atmosphere, the set design, the music, the storyline—everything was there. I had played some incredible escape rooms before: Storyteller’s Secret in Boston, L’Armoire à vendre in Laval, Dark Wyvern’s Mining in Indianapolis. All fantastic games, but this one struck a perfect balance between story, ambiance, and puzzle-solving.
Since Belgrade isn’t exactly a typical vacation destination for Quebecers, I knew I had to bring this game to Quebec—but in an improved version. Why improved? Because I have the incredible opportunity to work with my cousin, who owns Calimacil and thrives on new projects. Calimacil is a molding company specializing in the production of foam weapons for live-action role-playing (LARP). And where there are foam weapons, there are pirate swords and accessories!
He had developed Calimotion technology to integrate into weapons and accessories, enabling motion recognition, spatial positioning, and contact detection with light effects. So, we teamed up to further develop and adapt this technology for escape rooms, creating a series of unique, never-before-seen puzzles.
We are convinced that you will love this new adventure, and your support is invaluable to us!
